Top tips for selling
The following list is intended as a common sense guide to preparation of your home prior to public viewing. All of
the points raised would help create an improved impression of your home and that may lead to a faster, more
profitable sale.
External
- Ensure front and back gardens are clear of waste and are presented to their best potential
- Ensure access via pathway or driveway is unobstructed and the driveway is clear of cars
- Ensure gutters are in good condition and are clear of any blockage
- Ensure windows, garage doors and fascia have been cleaned prior to any viewings
Internal
- Make sure the property is clean, tidy and smells fresh
- Clear away as many personal items as possible before viewings
- Ensure all obvious repairs have been completed before any viewings are arranged
- Ensure each room is presented as it was originally intended; i.e. show a bedroom as a bedroom, not as an office
- Arrange decoration/replacement flooring where required (the property advisor can assist with this)
- Have as few people as possible present during the viewings.
- Allow the Advisor to lead the viewing
Remember poor quality repairs or decoration can reduce the value of your home. If you are unsure how to finish that
repair or improvement property always contact a qualified tradesman.
